- Light
- medium to bright indirect. It handles a dimmer corner better than most large-leaved plants, but grows leggy if you push it
- Water
- let the top inch dry, then water thoroughly. It is more tolerant of a missed week than an overwatered one. Soggy soil is how most of these are lost
- Toxicity
- toxic to dogs and cats (ASPCA): insoluble calcium oxalates and a proteolytic enzyme cause oral irritation, intense burning and irritation of the mouth, tongue and lips, excessive drooling, vomiting and difficulty swallowing. Also poisonous to people (NC State Extension, high severity): burning and swelling of the lips, tongue and throat, and the sap irritates skin and eyes
Toxicity confirmed against ASPCA Animal Poison Control; NC State Extension Plant Toolbox.
