A two-story entry has a problem most porches do not: there is a lot of wall above the door, and if you decorate only at ground level the whole facade reads unfinished.
So this one works at two heights. Garland across the portico and a wreath centered in the arched window hold the upper mass. Without them the eye stops at the roofline and the house looks bare from the street. Wreaths and bows on the carriage lights bridge the middle. Then poinsettia and greenery step down the stair rail, so there is a continuous line from the gable all the way to the walk.
Everything here is scaled up. Decoration that would look generous on a single-story porch disappears on a facade this size. The wreath is larger than it looks in photographs, and it needs to be.
